This Summer Wheel Intensive is a one-week immersion in wheel throwing, dedicated to the creation of functional ceramic forms such as cups, mugs, bowls, plates, jars, and small stands. The course is offered in two formats, allowing participants to choose the path that best matches their experience level.
Both options share the same structure, studio time, and glazing session, while the technical content and guidance are adapted to each group.
Option 1 — All Levels (Tailored Instruction)
This option is open to beginners and experienced. Teaching is adapted to each participant’s level, ensuring beginners build strong foundations while more advanced makers refine technique and form.
Focus
- Clay preparation, centering, and wheel control
- Cylinders for cups and mugs
- Bowls and plates in a variety of sizes
- Basic trimming, finishing, and surface decoration
Structure
- Day 1: Introduction to clay, the ceramic process, wedging, and centering
- Day 2: Cylinders for cups and mugs
- Day 3: Bowls; trimming of earlier work
- Day 4: Plates, jars, or continued development of chosen forms
- Day 5: Finishing, trimming, and decoration; preparation for bisque firing
- Day 6: Glazing session (dipping, pouring, brushing)
This option is ideal if you want a complete wheel experience in a short time, with instruction adjusted to your personal learning pace.
Option 2 — Tableware Set
This option is designed for intermediate potters who already feel comfortable centering and throwing independently and want to focus on developing a cohesive tableware set.
Focus
- Plates, bowls, lidded Jars and Stand
- Consistency in size, proportion, and weight
- Trimming accuracy and functional design
- Surface refinement, textures, and colour planning
Structure
- Day 1: Plates (from shallow to serving plates)
- Day 2: Plate practice and trimming
- Day 3: Bowls (ramen, pasta, shallow and deep)
- Day 4: Lidded Jars, Stands or individual project work
- Day 5: Trimming, decorating, and finishing
- Day 6: Glazing session with focus on consistency across a set
This option is ideal if your goal is to refine technique and produce a unified body of functional work.
Glazing Session (Both Options)
The final session includes an introduction to glaze basics and hands-on application using dipping, pouring, and brushing techniques. All finished pieces will be glazed and prepared for final firing.
The day of the glazing session will be decided together with the participants and it normally take place 10-15 weeks after the end of the class.
In case you cannot attend Day 6 (Glazing session) i will glaze your works for you with colours of your choice and then be shipped to you (shipment not included in the workshop fee).

For this specific course the following cancellation policy applies.
The intensive wheel class will only start once the minimum number of 2 participants has been reached.
If the minimum number of participants is not reached or in case of cancellation by Blayse Ceramic you will be fully refunded.
In case of cancellation by the participant with more than 15 days of notice before the beginning of the workshop, a full refund will be issued.
In case of cancellation by the participant with less then 15 Days of of notice before the beginning of the workshop, the enrollment fee will be converted into a voucher that can be spent on future courses.
