Glaze Chemistry requires patience and it's a journey made of success and failures that are part of the learning process. Every test is a step forward to get closer to your goal.

I offer my guidance to help you achieve the results you're looking for.

Whether you're a studio, an independent ceramic artist, or a hobbyist, my consultancy covers:

• Custom Glaze Development: I work closely with you to create unique glazes tailored to your specific aesthetic and functional needs. From colour formulation to surface texture, durability and selecting the right materials
• Testing Strategies: I’ll provide you with multiple tests strategies to explore the glazes and get closer to the desired results
• Troubleshooting and Refinement: how to solve issues with unwanted defects, inconsistencies. We will analyse your recipe, materials, firing cycles to identify problems and provide solutions
• Online resources and tools: how to use resources such as Glazy.org and UMF calculators to work on recipes and adapt them to your needs and studio equipment.

WHEN

It’s a 1:1 session of 120 min (split in 60 min + 60 min follow up on another day).

We schedule it together after you purchased it.

The sessions normally take place on a weekday between 11.00-16.00hr (CEST Berlin Time). 

Weekends and other timeframes are also available on request.

WHERE

On FaceTime or Google Meet. You will get a link to join a video call.

If you are in Berlin we can do it in my Studio.

WHAT YOU NEED TO PREPARE:

Please provide all possible information such as clay body, temperature (bisque and glaze firing curve), application method, previous tests if you have any.

FOR WHO:

For every level, hobbyist, independent ceramicist. No prior knowledge is required. You will get information and clarification about glaze chemistry but for a full understanding of the topic i would recommend you attend a complete workshop.

Please note that my main focus is on functional and durable glazes for stoneware fired in Oxidation (electric kiln) at mid-range/high temperature (1200-1280 C). Decorative and special effect glazes, such as lava, crawling, ash, phase separation glazes can also be included in the consultation.
